Through the Tunnel Questions

1.Does the setting of the story help portray the conflict? Why or why not?
Yes, the setting of the story helps portray the conflict. The setting is a beach with two different bays and it says that Jerry has " amusements he might secretly be longing for", so from this, I can suspect what will happen.

2. What colors does the author use to describe the mother and the beach?
The authors used the colors yellow and orange to describe the mother and the beach to give a more warm impression.

3. What colors are used to describe the boys swimming in the bay and the bay itself?
The author used colors like red-brown, bluish green, purple, dark blue, and heavy blue to describe the bay, which gives a scary and strange impression and dark-brown to describe the boys swimming in the bay.

4. What do you think this contrast in colors implies?
This contrast in colors draws two totally different pictures in our minds. The mother and the beach seems more warm and the other bay seems more new, strange, and scary.

5. How would you describe Jerry's and his mother's relationship at the opening of the story (note paragraphs 5 and 6)?
I could describe that Jerry and his mother is not in a very close relationship because Jerry wants to pull away and rebel from his mother.
